Located in upstate New York, this brand new 4,500 square foot private residence is a seasonal home for homeowner and family, built in the classic Adirondack style with a red cedar shingled exterior and painted evergreen trim.
The residence is designed for entertaining family and friends looking to get away from all by spending some time in the great outdoors. The home has bunk room guest quarters above the garage and large living spaces. The living room area features a large stone fireplace. The lower-level has a home spa, with a steam room, sauna and outdoor hot tub, as well as a game room. There are extremely large open spaces throughout the home with smaller, more intimate rooms to hide away.
The home has many green features including the majority of the lumber used is reclaimed wood, including vintage elm, walnut, cypress, and oak. These reclaimed materials were salvaged from old barns and other wooden structures from within the state of New York.
The interior was designed as an interpretation of a rustic home done in a modern way. It incorporates some traditional detailing of Adirondack twig and bark but tried to reinvent these traditions. The home is a showcase of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary construction techniques.
The designers made a conscious decision to bring outside materials inside - such as exterior finishes like shingles. One of the walls in the spa, uses the same stone as the exterior of the building integrating the exterior and interior of the home.
